Simon provides a spellbinding, comprehensive view of the criminal mind. Each chapter delves into types of crime, ranging from sexual misconduct, to rape, serial killers, and many in between. His anecdotes enliven his explanations, making this a readable book for all. It is not simply a text for those interested in psychology; business students will need to read the chapter on workplace violence, an increasingly common crime. This book is a fascinating study into aberrant human behavior, certainly of interest to all who walk this earth with the "500 serial killers ... at large who kill at least 3,500 people each year" (FBI estimate for the US). Simon presents current data and statistics on each type of crime. Readers will understand the type of thought process that allows one to commit specific violent crimes, how common these crimes are, and how likely they are to be affected by such a crime. Simon reinforces his point that many of these criminals are very much like you and me: they do what we only dream of doing. All levels. J. A. Brown University of Phoenix
