Review by Booklist Review

Living life as an artist presents countless challenges. Grant touches on many of the skills necessary for an artist to persist in the act of creating work while at the same time surviving in the realm of the real world. Mainly addressing issues most pertinent to novices, Grant briefly introduces topics critical to working artists--insuring one's work or dealing with art consultants, for example. In many instances, explanations describe the most basic art-making processes, such as how to mat drawings. Still, exposure to Grant's viewpoint overall will be useful to any individual who is actively entertaining the notion of devoting a lifetime to the pursuit of art. --Alice Joyce
