Gr 2-4Armbruster gives straightforward overviews of the formation of the glacial lakes, introduces the early Indian inhabitants and their cultures, and follows the routes of the European explorers. The major role the Great Lakes played in the search for a Northwest Passage, the natural resources along the shorefronts, and a current look at the area are addressed in easily understandable texts. The books have an attractive format replete with fascinating factual information; detailed maps; full-color photographs and reproductions; and lists of books, organizations, and online sites for further exploration. Libraries will find these titles to be priority acquisitions.Patricia Mahoney Brown, Benjamin Franklin Elementary School, Kenmore, NY (c) Copyright 2010.
