An unemployed disc jockey (Tom Waits), a small-time pimp (John Lurie), and an Italian tourist (Roberto Benigni) are thrown together in a Louisiana prison cell before escaping on a picaresque journey. The always offbeat Jim Jarmusch (Stranger Than Paradise) directed this quirky but gorgeously shot film, which has achieved something of a cult status among fans, who will relish the deluxe two-disc treatment.
