Review by Booklist Review

This book is not so much a complete course in crocheting as it is an excellent reference for new and experienced stitchers. There are no patterns or designs to follow, simply a top-notch series of instructions about starting and specific stitches. This Italian import is not organized in any logical way; Irish lace motifs, like the Lancelot leaf and the eight-petal flower, for example, are discussed separately from each other with nary a cross-reference--a bit disconcerting, if not frustrating. However, the directions and full-color photographic details are truly spectacular; ideas such as ribbon borders and interlocking rings, among others, are not necessarily incorporated in other how-to books. For any age, any level. --Barbara Jacobs Copyright 2004 Booklist

Review by Library Journal Review

Crystal-clear color photographs abound in this crochet manual that nearly lives up to its subtitle. Originally published in Italian as Scuola di uncinetto, it covers more than 50 different techniques, including those only cursorily addressed in other crochet manuals (e.g., Tunisian crochet, Filet crochet, and embroidering over crochet), with an emphasis on learning from photographs instead of written instructions. An excellent reference for beginning and experienced crocheters, this is highly recommended for large public libraries and for small libraries where demand warrants. (c) Copyright 2010.
