Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 5-9-What at first glance appears to be little more than an additional purchase is actually a concise and useful guide to virtually all of the explorers usually studied in public schools. Beginning with Leif Eriksson and his trip to Greenland and the Americas to Robert Ballard's 1985 expedition to search for the Titanic, the chronologically arranged spreads give readers a better understanding of how the world was explored and how information from each trip was able to help future expeditions. Informative black-and-white photos and reproductions appear throughout with an enlarged map segment showing the explorer's route(s) for each entry. This is an excellent quick resource that will appeal to researchers and general readers as well.-Carol Wichman, formerly at Northridge Local Schools, Dayton, OH (c) Copyright 2010.
