Gr 2-4-In these two volumes, Macnair presents a sketchy overview of anatomy and physiology. The books are full of large, page-eating photos that are often more decorative than informative (for example, a roller coaster and even the art gallery in Bilbao, Spain). Lots of white space and text boxes take up valuable space and leave very little room for the extremely generalized texts, e.g., "Most organs are tucked inside your body where you cannot see them" (Building Blocks). Stick with Seymour Simon's concise explanations of various body parts and systems.-Christine A. Moesch, City of Tonawanda Public Library, NY (c) Copyright 2010. Double-page spreads present a smattering of sometimes unrelated facts in short paragraphs and photo captions. The overall progression through each subject is somewhat more logical than in previous volumes in this series. The photographs are clear, but the few with internal organs superimposed on the exterior of fully clothed and active children are disconcerting. A poster is included. Websites. Glos., ind.
