\rtf1\ansi\deff0PreS\endash Gr. 1. From the publisher's I'm Going to Read! series, this book offers a brief first-person story about a girl and her little brother. Sometimes they share; sometimes they don't. Sometimes they get along well; sometimes they squabble. In the happy ending, they share a cookie jar, a playhouse, and a riding toy. Gently conveyed through the pictures as well as the words, the lesson is clear, but the emphasis here is on the children's everyday activities and emotions. Though the words are not all monosyllabic, repetition will make the text accessible to the target audience of beginning readers. A note to parents suggests activities and games to play while reading the book or using flash cards made at home. Pencil drawings shaded with colors portray the activities and the shifting emotions of siblings at play. Designed as a book for independent reading at the beginning stage, this is also a good choice for preschool teachers to read aloud when it's time to talk about sharing (again). --Carolyn Phelan Copyright 2005 Booklist
