The clever-quipping feathered hero of the Caldecott Honor book Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! now stars in a pair of original board books (with the bus driver as well as the duckling from The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog in supporting roles): The Pigeon Loves Things That Go! and The Pigeon Has Feelings, Too! by Mo Willems. In the first, Pigeon introduces various modes of transport including a bus ("Can't you just see me driving one?"), airplane ("Sure beats flapping!") and hot dog-"Hey, what's the big idea? PreS-Everyone's favorite pigeon is back with two titles for the board-book crowd. In Feelings, the Bus Driver tries to get Pigeon to make a happy face. Pigeon, of course, has other ideas. Words such as "happy," "sad," and "angry" stand out in bold colors. Things That Go! presents popular modes of transportation such as a bus, a train, an airplane-and a hot dog ("A hot dog can `GO' right into my belly!") while Pigeon provides colorful commentary. Both books use the same style and color scheme found in the original picture books, with clean bright pages and simple thick-lined illustrations. In Go, he comments on four vehicles (""Choo-choo! Pigeon express comin' through!""), including a hot dog that goes into a duckling's belly. Diverting but not very filling.
