Callery (1001 Ideas for Color & Paint) and Evelegh (House Beautiful Window Workshop) take the amateur step by step through the decorating process. Each book is divided into two sections covering first planning and then decorating. Tables interspersed throughout clearly list the strengths and weaknesses of various material choices for, e.g., lighting, flooring, and wall coverings. The numerous color photographs depicting a variety of decorating styles are each captioned with advice on what makes the look successful.
