Review by Library Journal Review

Comprised almost entirely of still images, La Jetee scarcely meets the conventional definition of a "motion picture." Avant-garde French filmmaker Chris Marker brilliantly uses montage (plus voiceover, music, and sound effects) in an sf tale about time travel that inspired Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys. In an unusual sort of travelog, Sans Soleil offers an intriguing but protracted examination of Japanese and African culture-and Hitchcock's Vertigo. For larger collections. (c) Copyright 2010.
