Review by Library Journal Review

Most amateur photographers are daunted by the challenges of photographing the night sky. But today even amateurs can produce images that only 20 years ago would have been possible only in a large professional observatory. Though Seip works professionally as a fine art photographer, his passion for astrophotography makes him an outstanding instructor in this field. Here, he explores the possibilities of beautiful night shots with a simple compact digital camera, a tripod, and a telescope. He uses a digital SLR camera to shoot the sun, moon, and stars and a webcam for planets. Highly recommended for public libraries. For a more specialized (and costly) how-to and reference text, see Michael A. Covington's Digital SLR Astrophotography. (c) Copyright 2010.
