Highly qualified ER physician Emma Sinclair returns to her birthplace in the California Sierras to run her father's clinic while he recuperates from a heart attack. Frustrated by the town's dismissal of her abilities, she struggles to deny her attraction to virile Stone Wilder, whom she discounts as a lazy ski bum. But Stone is absurdly prone to injury, and equally attracted to her, so there's no way she can avoid him. Gradually Emma realizes that her neighbors are more than they seem, and that small-town medicine is about more than symptomatic diagnosis and treatment. Shalvis continues to develop the characters and plotlines in her fast-paced yet richly emotional contemporary romantic trilogy centered around the Wilder adventure expedition company and the town of Wishful (Instant Attraction, 2009), while dropping hints about the impending final installment.--Welch, Lynne Copyright 2009 Booklist
