Review by Library Journal Review

Callahan, who owns a successful hand-dyed yarn business, lets novices in on the tricks of the trade in this friendly introduction to dyeing your own fiber. Beginning dyers can gain confidence by dyeing fiber with simple kitchen equipment and no-hassle dyes such as powdered drink mixes, then move on to more sophisticated techniques and supplies. Rather than taking the usual fiber type/color theory/dyeing directions approach, Callahan jumps right into the dyeing and saves the descriptions of different fibers and color theory for later in the book-an approach that adds to the "you can do this!" feel.
