Review by Library Journal Review

Pattern making is a key skill for fashion design, and the move from using commercial sewing patterns (or no pattern) to drafting one¿s own patterns differentiates the amateur from the professional. Hollahan's overview starts with the basics-using and adapting commercial patterns-then focuses extensively on drafting and using custom-made patterns. There's more than nuts-and-bolts pattern making here, though; Hollahan also includes information about designing garments that flatter a variety of body types, as well as the requisite sewing and design basics.
