Review by Library Journal Review

Reiki is a hands-on healing technique-practitioners channel divine energy to create balance and wholeness in their subjects. Developed in Japan in the early 20th century and initially brought to the United States in the 1930s, reiki teachings are divided into three distinct phases or degrees. The first degree is focused on self-healing; the second involves three symbols with unique healing properties; and the third, "Mastership," imbues the ability to create reiki "channels" in others. Quest has written a clear and concise top-to-bottom guide to all things reiki-what it is, how it came to be, what to expect from each of the three levels, and ways, traditional and creative, to apply reiki to personal and spiritual growth. Unlike other reiki authors, Quest skips the polemics in favor of straight-up explanation and instruction. Verdict A definitive manual on the use and possibilities of the healing energies of reiki. An instant classic; highly recommended for all public libraries and complementary and alternative medicine academic libraries.-Janet Tapper, Western States Chiropractic Coll.
