Based on Nickelodeon's Olivia series, each of these volumes presents a watered-down and homogenized Olivia, only vaguely recognizable to fans of her picture book antics. Accompanied by slick illustrations, the kid-centric but dull stories are sometimes confusing or unresolved. Text icons intended to aid emergent readers could easily frustrate them.
