PreS-Gr 1-This collection pairs English-language nursery rhymes and songs with their counterparts from China. Wu also includes some lesser-known English-language selections. The book is organized into themes: "Outside," "Inside," "Party," "Play," and "Night." "Hickory Dickory Dock" shares a spread with "Little Mouse," a rhyme about a mouse that climbed a lamp to eat the oil and can't get down. The Chinese rhymes are presented in simplified characters, pinyin Romanization, and translated into English. Large, brightly colored illustrations feature a multiethnic cast of children and adults. Most spreads have additional information about Chinese culture and ask readers to find items in the art.
