*Starred Review* Singh proves she's the alpha author of paranormal romance with the tenth novel in her Psy/Changeling series, and the first in hardback. Hawke, head of the SnowDancer community, has two major problems: he knows outside forces are planning an attack on SnowDancerterritory, and he is attracted to a young psy woman. Sienna is exactly the wrong woman for him since her psy abilities are so great she was raised as the perfect weapon if only she can keep herself under control. But Hawke's inner wolf makes it hard for him to stay away from her even though his human half is busy gathering intelligence, securing the perimeters of their Northern California homeland, planning offensive and defensive maneuvers, and making alliances with neighboring groups. Hawke's human side, however, is certain she is not his intended mate because his true mate died in childhood. Even readers who have not previously followed the series will be thrilled with Singh's tale.--Henshaw, Pa. Copyright 2010 Booklist

Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

A love triangle long awaited by fans resolves in Singh's 10th Psy-Changeling installment, the first in hardcover. Sienna Lauren is a rare Psy X who can wreak devastation with cold fire. Sienna has fought hard to control her abilities, knowing she'll most likely burn out and die by age 25, but she can't control her longing for alpha wolf Hawke. Hawke is drawn to her too, but there are barriers between them: age, station, and the death of his destined mate. Hawke and Sienna's fight against their fierce attraction parallels the beginnings of real war against antichangeling Psy factions-a war in which Sienna may have to use the powers that could destroy her. Singh deftly eliminates Sienna's potential love interest and adds a sweet secondary romance that contrasts with the violent intensity of Sienna and Hawke's relationship. First-time readers may be a little overwhelmed, but fans who have been longing for this story will not be disappointed. (June) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

From the time her family was taken in by the SnowDancer wolf pack after they escaped from the PsyNet, the network that links all members of the mentally gifted Psy race, X-Psy Sienna Lauren and pack leader Hawke have clashed. Now, as Sienna matures, they are suddenly fighting a growing attraction, and although Hawke struggles to resist, it's only a matter of time before Sienna takes matters into her own hands. When a vicious Psy enemy sets out to destroy the defiant Changeling (shapechanger) strongholds, SnowDancer is at the top of the list. As the danger closes in, keeping mentally lethal Sienna's identity a secret becomes more important than ever. VERDICT Intense, sensual, and dynamic, Sienna and Hawke's gripping story is one that series fans have been waiting for. While this title can stand on its own, readers new to the series may want to delve into the earlier books first. An exceptionally compelling hardcover debut for Singh (Archangel's Consort), who lives in New Zealand. (c) Copyright 2011. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
