Review by Publisher's Weekly Review
In this paper-over-board addition to the Kevin and Katie series, rosy-cheeked Kevin offers a kid's-eye-view of his trip to the library. "There are so many bookshelves and almost all of them are full. There are more books than I can count." Smudgy illustrations in bright colors show Kevin picking out books, bringing them to the librarian to check out, reading them at home, and then returning them to the library. Toddlers should be drawn to this straightforward depiction of a common experience. Also available: Katie Goes to the Doctor. Ages 2-up. (Feb.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

PreS-Each book presents a common childhood experience through a friendly narrator who explains step-by-step what is happening. Katie, who has a cough and a fever, goes for an examination. "The doctor has to listen to my chest, tummy, and back. Brrr, the metal feels cold!" Kevin and his dad go to the library, select some books to take home, and check them out on his own card. These books will guide parents through a discussion of what to expect as they prepare and reassure their children. Large, colorful illustrations support the texts. There is more narrative than in most books for such young children, but since they will be most useful one-on-one, adults can stop and chat with listeners before returning to the texts.-Amelia Jenkins, Juneau Public Library, AK (c) Copyright 2011.
