Review by Library Journal Review

This guide focuses on painting techniques and effects around the house. The provided directions are expert, but there is little hand-holding, and some of the projects may intimidate beginners (e.g., freehand mural painting). Additional project ideas are portrayed in stunning photographs, but specific instruction is not always offered. Overall, this beautiful book illustrates many possibilities, but it shouldn't be a primary source for interior painting. For detailed instruction on special painting techniques, see Simply Creative Faux Finishes with Gary Lord, and, for more basic instruction, Decorative Paint Techniques and Ideas from the "Better Homes and Gardens" series. Still, this is a good addition to large home improvement collections. (c) Copyright 2011. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted.
