Review by Booklist Review

Canine detective Buddy finds himself with a mystery that raises more questions than it initially answers. While still pondering the presence of a school ghost, a red herring from book four, Buddy discovers a monster in the school library, where he works as a reading therapy dog. He eventually learns that the monster is a blue-tongued skink. But what is it doing in school? Buddy's sleuthing goes unrecognized by humans, but the private satisfaction he derives is its own reward. Perhaps the series' biggest mystery is wh. no one ever listens to the dog. --Dean, Kar. Review by Horn Book Review

In this fifth book about the friendly therapy-dog/detective, Buddy discovers that, despite "evidence" to the contrary, there's no monster in the school library. The breezy text, friendly illustrations, and, above all, likable dog hero continue to make this series a solid choice for readers new to chapter books. (c) Copyright 2011.
