Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

In his third outing, Bobo, having held on to the good habits he learned in How to Be a Good Dog, volunteers to care for a neighbor's rambunctious kitten. Bobo soon learns that "Bonkers wasn't just very cute, he was also very... naughty!" His efforts to reform Bonkers fall flat, and it's up to Bobo's friend Cat to explain the truth of his species to Bobo ("Lesson #1: Cats are sneaky. You never see them coming"). The story line is slight, but Page conveys Bobo's earnest personality with understated humor and grace. Ages 3-6. (Nov.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 2-Bobo is a good dog. He likes to be helpful, so he eagerly volunteers to watch Mr. Hiccup's kitten. Bonkers is awfully cute, but he is also extremely naughty. He doesn't fetch or obey any commands, and seems interested only in destroying the house. Bobo needs professional help. To know a cat is to master a cat, and to understand Bonkers, he must learn what a cat is good at, like being sneaky or being stretchy. Once he learns that, he and Bonkers reach a mutual understanding and become fast friends. Simple, fresh, and funny, this humorous picture book is a keeper. Page's illustrations are adorable, and the images of Bobo's attempts to mimic Bonkers are laugh-out-loud funny, particularly the one of Bonkers doing yoga. Appropriate for storytime or one-on-one sharing, this book shines.-C. J. Connor, Campbell County Public Library, Cold Spring, KY (c) Copyright 2012.
