PreS-Gr 1-Caillou stars here in his very own Spanish/English picture dictionary. The well-known preschooler, his family, and friends are depicted in everyday scenarios in the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and at a party. The oversize board pages show the living room, for instance, cropped in a panel and surrounded by objects in the room, such as a rug and bookcase. English and Spanish vocabulary words label nine items from each room, such as "a towel/una toalla" or "a telephone/un telefono." Reading together, children and caregivers build vocabulary and seek and find items within the scene. Illustrations match the television show's cartoon black-line drawings filled with bold colors. Daily activities depicted are familiar and realistic; toys are strewn on the ground and the family cat watches as children celebrate a birthday. This picture dictionary is sure to be a hit because of Caillou's popularity. A staple English/Spanish dictionary for most early literacy collections.-Shannon Dye, Sno-Isle Libraries, Monroe, WA (c) Copyright 2012.
