Review by Booklist Review
Like one extended sugar rush, this travel guide surrounds relatively detailed but easily readable road and physical maps of each state (plus Washington, D.C.) with an arbitrary 5 Cool Things to Do Here, a select list of roadside attractions to visit, Fantastic Facts or Traffic Laws You Won't Believe, and a Boredom Buster! activity, like using the car's GPS to locate all the major cities along the Pennsylvania Turnpike or Elvis-themed sites in Tennessee. Photos of distinctive local sites, foods, wildlife, or other features as well as borders and backgrounds in bright, contrasting colors further amp up the presentation, as does a closing section of general Car Trip Fun!, which includes several visual or word puzzles and crowded vacation-themed cartoon scenes with wacky stuff to spot. Though far from comprehensive, the content is sufficient for planning itineraries for real or imagined vacations and will provide at least brief diversions for young travelers who are actually on the road.--Peters, John Copyright 2010 Booklist
