Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 2-4-These introductions cover a medley of topics, using eye-catching photos (the frozen body of a baby woolly mammoth, glowing lava flow streaming from an active volcano, and a space shuttle docking, etc.), clear diagrams, and text that clearly relays key scientific concepts. Glossary terms are in bold throughout and then concisely defined at the back of each volume. The titles all examine what was, what is, and what can be expected in the future. For example, Ice Ages covers not only the Ice Age, but also glaciers today and the "Next Ice Age." Unfortunately, Climate Change fails to make a clear distinction between climate and weather-a page heading asks, "What Will the Weather Be Like Tomorrow?" and then proceeds to discuss climate change. Despite this oversight, the series is a useful resource, complete with a link at the back of each volume to a list of websites chosen and updated regularly by the publisher. (c) Copyright 2012.
