Together, they provide basic facts about selecting pets, purchasing necessary equipment, and caring for the animals. The children and adults in many of the photos look stiff and posed. Controlled vocabulary and simple sentence structure can provide reading practice for the target audience. However, due to the limitations of the format and the resulting scarcity of information, potential pet owners will need to look elsewhere for in-depth information about ownership.
