Review by School Library Journal Review

Gr 1-2-In just a few sentences per spread, these profiles convey an easily digestible mix of general statements and specific facts. The titles introduce their chosen subjects' habitats, physical characteristics, habits, life cycles, diet, and predators. Each spread contains text opposite a full-bleed color photo of the featured animals. Piranhas includes lots of toothy close-ups, but young birds are the largest prey mentioned. In Anacondas, the one photo of the giant snake smothering its meal won't alarm even sensitive readers. Though these furry critters, birds, snakes, and fish will be familiar to many readers, the appealing pictures will keep them fascinated. (c) Copyright 2012.
