The content of these new titles in the Discover More series is quite varied. Puppies and Kittens gives tips for pet care and animal communication, identifies different kinds of cats and dogs, and follows the young animals from birth through the age of two to three months accompanied by photos all but dripping with cuteness. Despite their varied subject matter, the books in the series share a visually vivid style featuring lots of bright, engaging photographs. The book's various textual features make them perfect for pre-readers to browse, or for reading to pre-readers or beginning readers. A typical spread includes one large photo and several small ones. In keeping with the importance of visuals in these books, much of the key information can be found in the photo captions. Another compelling feature of this series is that each book comes with a free interactive digital companion book on the publisher's website. This book offers information about how to care for kittens and puppies. The book's draw is its plentiful photographs, which feature lots of cuddly animals. The main text is superficial but supplemented by informative captions, charts, and boxed text.
