This elegant bakery cookbook showcases Breakfast Pastries, Tarts, Cakes, Cookies, Sweet & Savory Snacks, and Basic Recipes (e.g., Sweet Tart Dough, Caramel Sauce) from the Standard Baking Co. in Portland, ME. Bakery owner Pray and Culinary Institute of America-trained head pastry chef Smith have adapted these recipes for home cooks, and while most are suitable for novices, some (Butter Croissants, for example) require skill and specialty equipment (like tart rings and brioche molds). Beautiful matte photographs depict these European-style treats in their well-browned, crusty glory.
