Review by Library Journal Review

Barkley is a do-it-yourselfer and author of Build Your Own Treehouse, which includes the same tree house complex covered in his newest title. While the tree house designs are unique and imaginative, there are a lot of necessary fundamentals missing. Barkley jumps right into bridges and decking, without addressing site preparation, tree suitability, or platforms. Some of the design details show exploded views but don't include measurements. VERDICT Although the fantastic aerial village depicted here reflects the author's cleverness, this book isn't the best starting point for the basics of tree house construction. For more attention to site prep, construction, and safety, see Philip Schmidt's Black & Decker The Complete Guide: Build Your Kids a Treehouse. Likewise, any tree house book by David & Jeanie Stiles (Treehouses & Playhouses You Can Build) should be the cornerstone of any tree house collection.
