PreS-Gr 1-In this addition to a series that is packed with child appeal, a winsome feline heads to school to enjoy a busy day of singing, learning, playing, and interacting with others. Like Kitty Cat, Kitty, Cat, Are You Waking Up? (2008) and .Are You Going to Sleep? (2011, both Marshall Cavendish), this entry pairs warm-hued double-page artwork with question-and-answer dialogue between an adult and child ("'Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat,/time to have a treat.'/'Yum yum, Teacher,/I always like to eat'"). The cadenced rhymes are in perfect step with the handsome watercolor and colored-pencil paintings. From outdoor playtime to show-and-tell, each scene bustles with activity and inviting detail (youngsters who look closely will find the same small brown mouse featured in the other titles). Kitty Cat loves everything about school: singing songs with the other students, reading, counting to ten, art, naptime, and more. The story's use of repetition and simple rhymes will help newer readers strengthen their skills. The watercolor and colored-pencil illustrations emphasize the energy of the kittens, and children will enjoy searching for the tiny mouse hiding in every spread. (c) Copyright 2014.
