Gr 4-6-Smith returns to the peculiar world of Barry Loser. This time, the protagonist faces a new problem: Gordon Smugly who, in Barry's mind, has the "most perfect name for himself in the history of having a name." Gordon has stolen his best friend, Bunky, and it's up to Barry to get him back. Adding to the drama is the boy's constant need to avoid catching his teacher Mr. Hodgepodge kissing Granny Harumpadunk. The story is told from Barry's point of view and is filled with the kind of potty humor certain to entertain and engage the most reluctant of readers, especially fans of "Captain Underpants" and "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." Simple ink illustrations are found on nearly every page and add a certain caricature to each of the players in the story.-Wayne R.
