Review by Library Journal Review
Kingsbury's (The Bridge; Fifteen Minutes) book of interrelated short stories brings new life to the Scriptures, making them understandable to the uninitiated. The author's elegant and engaging prose takes readers through the heartbreak and hardships-as well as the triumphs-of Jesus and his family. The unhurried pace and realistic characters help set a contemplative tone. VERDICT Shining a light on the human side of the Savior, this is recommended to readers seeking a clearer, more accessible understanding of the New Testament and those who enjoy such authors as Bodie and Brock Thoene or Lynn Austin; it would also be a great pick for a Bible study group or book club.
