Artist Janna knows her boat is going down off the Queen Charlotte Islands, but she fights hard to bail and stay afloat. Carlson Raven spots the struggling woman from his boat and is impressed with her heroic efforts. When she becomes tangled in her overturned boat, he pulls her to safety aboard his. The two enjoy an instant attraction but struggle against those feelings because each is still wounded from past rejections. In this vintage romance from best-seller Lowell's early romance-writing days, the sensual love story about two isolated and independent people draws a lovely relationship arc. The plotline about Janna's ex-husband's sexuality may remind readers that this story is from 1986, but the main love story resonates with fresh appeal, and the setting and nautical descriptions are evocative. Janna and Raven are uniquely compelling characters behind their bristling defenses, and their journey is fun to track right up to their happy ending. Jayne Anne Krentz fans as well as Lowell enthusiasts will enjoy this.--Alessio, Amy Copyright 2014 Booklist

United by a stormy sea and a capsized boat, two love-averse strangers unsuccessfully resist their growing attraction as they wait out the storm in the glorious savage isolation of British Columbia's Queen Charlotte Islands. First published as Love Song for a Raven in 1987 as a Silhouette Desire, this breathtaking sizzler is vintage early Lowell and still packs an emotional punch. (c) Copyright 2014.
