Review by School Library Journal Review
Gr 2-4-Each of these keenly illustrated titles packs a punch. After some introductory information on life cycles (such as habitats and reproduction), seven double page spread chapters delve into the cycles of individual species. Some subjects will be familiar enough (snakes, koalas, salmon, saguaro cactus), while others will be new to readers, including the rafflesia plant, the axolotl (a type of salamander), and the pipistrelle bat. The writing, set in varying sizes and font types, is clear and accessible for the intended audience. Like many currently published books, the pictures are captivating and large and add interest and clarification to the text. An appended page of amazing facts, a glossary, and a complete index finish off each book. These appealing introductions are strong contenders for browsers and beginning researchers.-Anne Chapman Callaghan, Racine Public Library, WI (c) Copyright 2014.
