This book's back cover aptly states that it's for those who really, really like "pissed-off cats dressed in hilarious costumes." An all-photograph collection of AC, the author's black cat, this short but cute title has no text, unlike similar books of feline sensations Grumpy Cat, Lil' Bub, and Maru. Milwaukee-based photographer Funk creates all of AC's costumes herself, and explains that her pet "willingly" poses for the photos (as long as treats or a toy are involved). Funk, who earned a BFA in photography from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, uses dioramas to shoot the scenes, creating the background and lighting herself. The author's backstory of how she became involved in photographing AC (first as cards, then a calendar) is striking and lends depth to the book. The pictures appear to be in random order and include scenes such as AC as a dinosaur, Christmas tree, and wizard. An explanation of the image arrangement (such as chronological or thematic) might be helpful. The author's items are sold online and at craft fairs nationwide. VERDICT For those, as the book says, who love cats dressed in costumes. [See "Books for the Masses," Editors' BEA Picks, LJ 7/14, p. 31.] Leigh Mihlrad, FDIC Lib., Washington, DC (c) Copyright 2014.
