Sound recording - 2014

"The newest installment in the beloved and best-selling series. In this delightful fifteenth installment, Mma Ramotswe has her hands full both at home and in the office. To add to her current challenges, her devoted partner, Grace Makutsi, has decided to branch out on her own and open The Handsome Man's De Luxe Cafe. But even "Miss 97 Per Cent" can't quite meet all the demands of running a business--not to mention those that a lightning strike makes on her building. Eventually, she'll have to accept all the help she can get--even if it comes from a completely unexpected source"--

Fans of the "No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency" will find their favorite characters in full comic mode in this latest outing. Indefatigable Mma Makutsi embarks on yet another project-opening a café with a name that dismays her modest husband. Irrepressible Charley moves from apprentice mechanic to detective-clerk, and Mma Ramotswe must solve personnel issues and discover the identity of a woman suffering from amnesia. South African narrator -Lisette Lecat brings McCall Smith's Botswana to the listener and makes the faraway locale feel close to home. Her warmth and charm do justice to the humor and kindness that Mma Ramotswe typifies. Then she raises her voice, speeds up her diction, and brings the persnickety Grace Makutsi to life. -VERDICT Recommended for series fans and those who enjoy cozy mysteries.-Juleigh Muirhead Clark, Colonial Williamsburg Fdn.
