"Description Asa Cross is a man with a second chance. An opportunity to right a lifetime of wrongs. Every single day is a struggle between who he should be and the man he knows he really is and always was. With a new life in Denver and a whole new circle of friends and family it's a tightrope walk to keep from falling back into old patterns. Asa doesn't want to hurt the people in his life who have come to love him and rely on him but sometimes when the bottom is the only thing you are familiar with it's the easiest place to end up. Royal Hastings has a problem. She's just started to settle into her demanding and dangerous job as a police officer, and more than that she's just started to make real friends. Somet...hing that has never come easily for her. The only thing she has to complain about these days is the fact that she can't stop thinking about the sexy southern bartender she had to lock up. Not only is her crush on Asa inappropriate considering his endless criminal record, but she's also worried about how her newfound social circle is going to react to the fact she was just doing her job by putting him behind bars. Sometimes the wrong choice is really the only right choice to make"--

The final book in Crownover's popular Marked Men series tells the story of the cop and the criminal. Southern charmer Asa Cross has done a lot of bad things in his life, and he knows that he's all wrong for officer Royal Hastings. Royal isn't sure about a lot of things in her life right now. She blames herself for her partner getting shot, and she's not sure if she really wants to be a cop. But she is certain about her desire for Asa. Series fans will welcome the opportunity to catch up with all their favorite characters, while readers new to the series will want to track down all of the previous books in this sexy, sizzling series. Crownover has created a well-developed cast of strong and realistic characters who are living interesting lives and dealing with compelling contemporary issues.--Quillen, C. L. Review by Publisher's Weekly Review

Crownover wraps up her Marked Men series in safe mode, giving Asa Cross-maybe the baddest of her bad-boy heroes-a convenient redemption plot. After a terrifying near-death experience, Asa quits his life of crime and petty larceny, gets a job as a bartender, and determinedly makes monthly installment payments on his massive medical bills. What could best complete this picture of straight-and-narrowness? Falling for Royal Hastings, the cop who arrested him the last time he dabbled in crime. As luck would have it, this sexy officer yearns for nothing less than slapping cuffs on Asa once again-preferably so as to attach him to the headboard of a bed. What might have been an edgy plot with spiky sex is instead predicable and tame. Agent: Stacey Donaghy, Donaghy Literary. (Apr.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.
