Tyrannosaurus rex, possibly the most iconic of dinosaurs, did not claim his crown through a single discovery. The identification and scientific understanding of the Tyrant Lizard King was the work of many people over a long period of time. This book in the Dinosaur Discovery Timelines series presents 10 location-specific time lines that pinpoint the paleontological finds that have led to our present understanding of this prehistoric predator. Each time line features a map, portraits of important scientists with descriptions of their finds, and illustrations ranging from photos of skulls to computer-generated depictions of T. rex. A simple way of presenting a lot and often overlapping pieces of information, the bite-size facts and attention-getting illustrations make this book great for browsing and reluctant readers. A glossary, index, and additional resources will aid readers in making their own T. rex discoveries.--Smith, Julia Copyright 2015 Booklist

The history of paleontological research on two major dinosaur species is creatively presented in timelines that focus on major discoveries from the early nineteenth century to present day. The design can sometimes make information hard to follow, but images of dinosaurs and photographs of the scientists and fossilized remains enhance the unfolding of events. Reading list.
