Ever tackled a brunch before? Although these British editors don't offer a series of trend-busting menus, they do provide more than 60 basic recipes, dressed up or down to individual tastes. Muffins and pancakes, cereal and eggs, and sweets and savories fill the pages of this mini book, all with the requisite instructions, ingredients, tips, and mouth-watering photographs. What's even more tempting, especially to novices, is the series of how-to fundamentals, like perfect scrambled eggs and perfect muffins, each fully illustrated with photographs and well-crafted directions. A few more-unusual dishes do catch the eye: duck egg and asparagus dippers, traditional kippers, oatmeal soda bread. Don't forget to check out the unique calorie-gallery appendix: four pages of capsule photographs (and page references) list the counts for calories, protein, fat, fiber, carbs, and salt.--Jacobs, Barbara Copyright 2015 Booklist
