Review by Library Journal Review

In this well-researched and beautifully photographed book, Lacerda, founder of Mr. Yoga Inc., provides readers with an extensive catalog of poses designed for yogis of all practices and experience levels. The author has chosen 40 of his expert students to model each of the 2,100 poses he photographed. The beginning of the book includes essential yoga information such as a brief history of the practice, a description of the sutras, also known as the eight limbs of yoga, plus a summary of the chakras. Each pose includes an image, the name of the pose in Sanskrit as well as in English, pose modification(s), the Drishti Point (focused gaze), and the chakras that are activated while in the position. The chapters are organized into eight types of poses and often progress from simple to challenging. Some are described in detail and provide steps to perform them. However, the majority of the book doesn't offer explanations on how to do the poses but rather supply a comprehensive list. VERDICT For readers with an interest in yoga, from beginners to advanced experts.-Melissa Keegan, Ela Area P.L., Lake Zurich, IL © Copyright 2015.
