Review by School Library Journal Review

PreS-Gr 1-Children learn that it is OK to be different in this beginning reader. While the young birds in a nest happily tweet, one bird says "moo" instead. He is told, "Birds tweet. Cows moo. Get with it." When he can't conform, Moo Bird is asked to leave and sets out to find a cow. He encounters many animals along the way that incorporate several sight words and visual clues. He doesn't find acceptance with the cow but does find a friend in the process. The colorful, detailed expressions of the cartoon animals are sure to please and have youngsters rooting for Moo Bird. VERDICT A sweet story that fledgling readers will delight in tackling many times over.-Andrea Pavlik, Huntington Public Library, NY c Copyright 2016.
