Heroic hall monitor Sam Graves is back, along with his friends Lucy and Antonio. Together, they must defend their schoolmates from the living, evil entity that is Eerie Elementary. As the three begin to discover the truth behind their scary school, Lucy disappears. A puddle of slime and a hole at the back of her locker lead Sam and Antonio on a frightening trip through the churning innards of the school. Plenty of action words and direct sentences make this suitable for emerging readers, and with a cheery ending the friends emerge victorious into the sunlight it will be a good fit for readers not quite ready for Lovecraft Middle School or Goosebumps, too.--Willey, Paula Copyright 2010 Booklist

Gr 1-3-In this entry of the eerie early chapter book series, Sam and Antonio are on the hunt for Lucy, who has mysteriously disappeared into her locker. The legible text, high-interest story line, and Ricks's generous and appropriately scary illustrations, make this title perfect for early elementary students looking for spine-tingling tales.
