Review by Booklist Review

Purmort manages to pull off a funny, never-morbid memoir largely about losing her husband to brain cancer. She recorded his journey in a blog called myhusbandstumor.com, subtitled It's not a cancer story, it's a love story. With some cancer. Despite a 2014 that sucked pretty hard (she miscarried her second baby; a few weeks later, lost her dad; and then six weeks later, her husband, Aaron), she still elicits laughs as she combines humor and wisdom. Purmort pokes fun at herself as a PR girl and offers advice: Marry a person who is perfectly imperfect, because if you've ever watched a true crime show you should know that the perfect' spouse always murders you in the end. Along the way, she tosses in her philosophy on roller coasters (I don't like paying money to feel like I'm about to die) and jokes about her not-so-beautiful-in-the-beginning newborn, Ralph. The permission-granting title is correct: it is OK to laugh.--Springen, Karen Copyright 2016 Booklist
