This latest addition to the Guinness canon is aimed at early readers (Level 2 Reading with Help) and presents a collection of the world's fastest, highest, lowest, largest, smallest, and weirdest vehicles. All sorts of things on wheels are represented, from cars and trucks to unicycles and motorized strollers, and each gets its own page. The vocabulary is perhaps too sophisticated for true early readers (words used include rideable, whopping, carnival, and many proper nouns), but repetitive sentences provide key facts and figures in fairly predictable formulas. Each entry also gets its own full-color photograph, providing visual clues and helping young audiences grasp the size and mass of some of these monsters. The purpose of this series is to engage young readers and build confidence in their reading skills. Audiences may need to listen to this selection a couple times before they can attempt to read it on their own, but who wouldn't want to know about the world's largest motorized shopping cart or fastest toilet?--McBroom, Kathleen Copyright 2016 Booklist
