Review by Booklist Review
The National Mustard Museum, a giant eyeball sculpture, and a live mermaid show are only a few of the dozens of peculiar places that draw tourists in worldwide. Starting with a brief introduction and a world map pointing out each of the sites (helpfully numbered in the order in which they appear in the book), the book then jumps to an array of what gets us to pull the car over. This quick read is filled with large-format, full-color photographs of the world's oddities and short paragraphs with fun facts that are enough to pique curiosity. National Geographic has a very distinct style of presenting information in a way that is eye-catching, kid-friendly, and informative, and this latest offering is no different. If this book could be enhanced at all, it would be by dividing the tourist hot spots by geographic region, which would be more useful for those looking to enhance their trips. A delight that will have travelers young and old poring over the pages and planning offbeat excursions.--Linsenmeyer, Erin Copyright 2016 Booklist
