Review by Horn Book Review

Young Helena shows her friend Cole around the forest. Although Cole is disappointed that he doesn't see wild animals, Helena points out their traces: "Helena picked up a long, black feather... 'Eagles catch salmon here.'" The text's refrain--"Something had been there. Something had done that"--grows repetitive; stiff illustrations and amateurish design detract from the somewhat engaging science. Activities appended. (c) Copyright 2017.
