Someone is sleeping in Christian Forester's bed! Christian had come to his hunting lodge in the wilds of Scotland to get far away from everyone only to find Lady Sarah Highgate making herself perfectly comfortable in his home. After divesting Sarah of the sword with which she was attempting to skewer him, Christian discovers that she fled London herself, hoping to escape being married off to the most conceited bore in society. Now faced with a potential ruinous scandal, Sarah strikes a deal. If he will help her return home with her reputation intact, she will help him find a wife by turning him into the most desirable bachelor of the season. However, what initially seems like a good idea quickly becomes a complicated mess once Sarah realizes she is falling for the legendary lord she is busy inventing. Graceful writing enlivened with plenty of dry wit, a charming cast of secondary characters, and a breathtakingly sexy romance between a perfectly matched couple make Bowman's (The Untamed Earl, 2016) latest addition to her Regency-set Playful Brides series another winner.--Charles, John Copyright 2016 Booklist

Bowman's sixth 19th-century Playful Brides tale (after The Untamed Earl) is a sweet and fulfilling snowbound romance. Lady Sarah Highgate has run away from London and the betrothal her father has secured for her, only to land in the part of the Scottish Highlands. After she and her governess lose their way, they wind up at the cabin of Christian Forester, Viscount Berkeley. When Sarah and Christian are snowed in together with no chaperone, she agrees to help him find a wife as he tries to concoct a plausible tale about her disappearance from London. Neither counts on their mutual attraction, which continues to grow when they return to London even though Sarah is still engaged to a man she dislikes. Enjoyable characters from earlier installments fill the pages as they try to figure out how to unite Sarah and Christian.
