Review by Booklist Review

Designed with expectant mothers in mind, this book offers 16 patterns for different styles of crocheted baby shoes. It also includes instructions with very easy to understand photo illustrations for the stitches used in these patterns. The shoes are cute and whimsical and, despite some of them being unnecessarily gendered in the text, offer a wide selection to suit a variety of personal styles. The samples in the book are lovingly photographed, and appealing line drawings accent the uncluttered design of the book. The pattern for the soles used in most of the patterns is charted as well as written, but the shoes themselves are presented in written instructions only. Some patterns are worked in rounds, others in rows, and most require two or three colors of yarn. All are worked using a US B (2.5mm) crochet hook and include three sizes (0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months). Because the patterns have so many similarities, once the reader has worked one pattern, any of the others will likely be a snap.--Heidemann, Anne Copyright 2016 Booklist
